A little cleanse and a whole lot of love

Hey guys!   I’m sorry it’s been awhile since I have written.  I like to write about once a week but I have been distracted with life the past few weeks. Not with anything really fun and exciting, but I just let myself be lazy with my blogging.  I don’t do much with my spare time other than go to the gym, social media, watch Netflix and read.  While I’m still on the path to making friends, I was lucky enough to get a visit from the most wonderful people on the planet.  A few weeks ago, my parents decided to come see me for their 25th anniversary and I promise you I was the happiest girl in the world.

We packed a lot into the 5 days that they were here.  Now that they are gone, I feel like I should have shown them more.  We walked the strip and old Vegas, we went to the Grand Canyon, Lake Mead, and we even did a little rock climbing at Red Rock Canyon.  Yes, yes they even gambled a whole $30.00!  It was so much fun showing them around my new adventure.  They brought a cold spell with them and it was wonderful.  I don’t think it was above 80 degrees the whole time they were here and as soon as they left our warm weather returned.  To make their visit even better, my mom and dad brought me queso and salsa from my favorite Fort Wayne, Mexican restaurant. They also put some grass and leaves in an envelope so I could smell a little bit of the Fall season.  I had so much fun and it was hard watching them leave. Every time I go home for a visit or have visitors it is like leaving home all over again.  I miss friends and family a lot and I wish I could see them more. It’s during those times that I have to remind myself that people do this everyday and they make it and I will too.

On another note…this past week I was laying on my bed being the dramatic diva I am, thinking about how I never have time to read for fun or have time for myself anymore. Then, I did what I always do and proceeded to get back on facebook, instagram, and twitter. After I wasted a few hours on social media I heard a song called “Oh Well” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dlzpW0zbvX8.  I felt like this song was a sign that I needed to take a social media break…I’d been wasting so much time.  So, starting last Sunday, I took a social media cleanse. I still used my snap chat and the occasional Pintrest, but guys let me tell you that it was much needed. It was so nice to be drama free for a while.  It wasn’t life changing but I felt like I had more time and I felt like I  was more “in” my day.  At this point I have returned to using social media but I use it a whole lot less.  I love social media as much as the next person, but I can’t let it control me.  My dilemma…I would love to blog more about my life and my travels (when those come) and a huge part of that is social media, so I am working on finding a healthy balance.  I want to stop looking down at my phone and start looking up and out at what’s in front of me.

Lastly, my boyfriends mom showed me a fun app called the Acorn app.  This app links to your bank account and rounds up all of your purchases and puts that extra change into a savings account.  What a great way to save money.  I am going to try it and will let you know how it goes.

I’m missing home and the Fall colors, but not the cold haha!  I am in the process of planning a trip home for the holidays and hopefully will see you soon!

Here’s to a life of spontaneity
